MODERN FARMHOUSE MASTER BEDROOM REVEAL

For some reason, my Master Bedroom has been on the back burner for nearly 3 years since we moved into our house. There is always something else to be doing in a different space in the house and my bedroom was always left in the dust.

I’m not gonna lie, I still have some major changes that will be coming within the next 6 months which I will do a reveal for, but for right now, I finally feel excited for what I’ve created and ready to show it off!

Almost 6 months ago I was determined to get rid of our super old Ikea bed frame. I was OVER it. There really wasn’t anything *that wrong with it, but it was almost 6 years old, been through 3 moves, and creaky as hell. I needed a change and was pumped to finally get the bed frame of my dreams! As I began my search, I really didn’t know what I wanted. I went back and forth between wood vs. upholstered vs. a mix. So… I took to good ole’ Pinterest to help me make my decision! As I was looking, I gravitated towards the upholstered look because I was totally going for (and still am) the luxury hotel look. I want to feel like I am in an oasis that calms and relaxes me. Next was the hard part… picking the bed frame.

My search began on Wayfair. If you haven’t checked out Wayfair you HAVE to. No, seriously, like you need to now. They have literally everything you can imagine and the quality has been amazing so far from what I’ve purchased. Anyways, as I began my search I knew I wanted upholstered but really that was it… not really sure what color I was going for or the style. Again, I took to Pinterest to investigate my likes. Here is the list I created:

  • clean lines

  • plain headboard (no buttons)

  • black/gray/neutral colors

  • bedframe that didn’t require a “frame”

  • High (I was over a low) frame itself and high headboard

I had my list of what I wanted and I searched for what seemed like hours and hours (probably pretty accurate). I landed the perfect bed frame that I have been hoping for ever since we moved into our house! The Amera Low Profile Bed by Joss & Main was it. Now the hard part… I had to pick a color! I put a lot of thought into this because I wanted to make sure this was something that would make sense within our room and would be a cohesive design in our home. I was back and forth between the Talc (a light beige) or the Black. I honestly loved both so much for different reasons… the black because I LOVE a black accent and it is super easy to manage and keep clean, the Talc because who doesn’t love a light bed moment? It’s dreamy, hotel like, and oh so chic. I knew how messy the kids, dog, and the husband can be (not me… no) so I ended up choosing the Black.

I AM IN LOVE. It is exactly what I was hoping for! It fits the space perfectly and continues the Black accents that I have throughout the house into our master. The fabric is a soft linen and extremely easy to clean if there are any spills. I highly, highly recommend this bed! We’ve had it now for about 5 months and it’s held up with no issues in sight.

After I choose the bed frame I knew I wanted that “hotel luxury” feel and I had the perfect bedding to work with! Last Christmas I treated myself to my all time favorite Pottery Barn bedding. I purchased the “cooling” duvet insert, white duvet cover, and finally white sheets. I know……. WHITE.

What was I thinking????

For someone who has had every shade of color under the rainbow for bedding, I was SICK of color. I was over it. I did a lot of research and it convinced me to get white bedding. Did you know white bedding is actually EASIER to keep clean? Yea me neither… I thought about it and actually it makes a whole lot of sense. I tend to wash my white bedding way more often. I also do not let my dog on the bedding with a waterproof dog blanket. I honestly do not know why I hadn’t done this before, but whatever! I also use my FAV product ever on every wash of my bedding: Oxiclean White Revive. Good god… if you haven’t used this before you have to go buy this. It is a miracle worker! If I have any stains in my bedding, they are wiped out immediately after a wash. Seriously though, there is so much more you can do with white bedding in terms of keeping it clean compared to colors or patterns. Take the plunge with me people, get the white bedding you’ve been swooning over!!

Now for the best part: DECORATING!

My all time favorite thing to do is to decorate. No like, seriously. If I could decorate houses all day long I would be in heaven, so naturally, this is the best part (to me) when I am in the process of designing a space for myself or for a client. Before I got started on figuring out which things I wanted, I first went to Pinterest (see a pattern lol). A couple things I knew I wanted:

  • Modern farmhouse/boho/western vibes

  • Faux plants (because I kill everything else)

  • Black/white pillows with different textures/patterns.

  • Textured Blanket

Once I knew what I was looking for, I headed over to Amazon to go on the hunt!! Here are some of the goodies I found…

So what’s next?

I’m still not done. I probably will never be done to be completely honest! As my design style changes, I like to reflect that in my home. But some major things to look forward to are getting new nightstands and a dresser. My goal is to get these within the next couple months…. I am so tired of the old Ikea stuff that we’ve had for ages. They are pretty banged up for several moves and they are super dark (which is fine, but not the vibe I’m going for). I have been looking everywhere and seem to have landed on a couple options from Pottery Barn. Don’t worry though, I’ll be sure to keep you updated on the latest and greatest :)
